The Martha Spak Gallery at the Wharf is an artist-owned contemporary gallery exhibiting art by Martha Spak and local artists, offering painting demonstrations and art discussion on a monthly basis.

Martha is a creative entrepreneur based in Washington, DC.  She curates with a unique vision to set a feeling and striking aesthetic in the gallery space.  Each display is refreshed regularly and brings a unified feel and thoughtful selection.  Designers, commercial clients and private collectors will find a welcoming environment for art viewing with committed art professionals.

Martha is a fine artist, best known for her ethereal landscape paintings and soft abstract paintings.  Her art has been featured in television series, movies, magazines and catalogs. She is an art speaker and former art instructor. Her work has been featured in several publications including  DC Modern magazine, Southern Home, Traditional Home, Elan, Spaces and more.

Her original work is in the permanent collections of individuals and corporations including Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Wealth Management and others. Through distribution channels, Martha’s reproductions are sold through home boutiques and national chains including Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma Home, Ballard Design, and One King’s Lane.  Her work has appeared in television and movie sets including Netflix House of Cards, BET Being Mary Jane, HGTV House Hunter Renovations, NBC Good Girls, CBS Dynasty and many others.  In addition, selections of her work are licensed under the brands Lilian August, Vanguard and Nathan Turner.

Martha is the founder of Leading Artists Gallery, an online gallery providing artists themed competitions and exhibition opportunities.  Prior to becoming an artist over twenty-five years ago, she taught an intellectual property course annually at Stanford University for four years.  She has a degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and received an Executive Certificate in Intellectual Property Negotiation from Harvard.
